Registered Name: Pipe 'N Boogie Down, but it was never used.
Barn Name: Piper.
Gender: Gelding.
Breed: Shetland Pony.
Age: About 17 years.
Coat Color: Bay Roan; No markings.
Owned By: Rescue center if there's space, if not, he's for sale.
Personality: Though in equine age, Piper is pretty much an old man, his energy is that of a four-month foal. But, just like any horse has his flaws, the grandpa of a pony can have some pretty off days, his attitude turning sour on such days. But, on his better days, he acts like a foal- stealing humans items and taking off, picking play-fights with the bigger horses, escaping his pen, and other mischievous acts of that sort. He has the courage of a Shire, but he's not aggressive in the least bit. So, although he may be the one to pick a fight, he will most likely also be the one to take off as fast as his short pony legs will carry him. Piper doesn't think much at all of humans, he doesn't dislike or fear them, but he probably wont call out or come to someone unless they have a bucket of oats or a big, juicy apple. At least, that's toward adults. The old pony has a strong bond with children, and somewhat of a liking for teens- a result from his long past. A typical pony, Piper loves his food. He has yet to be aggressive with someone taking his food, but he would leap through a ring of fire as long as someone was holding a sugar cube out for him on the other side. This has caused problems in the past, teaching the Shetland to be an escape artist. Though annoying, this flaw never proved to be dangerous, for the pony would always go straight for the closest food, if it be a bale of hay or a patch of grass. He never really gets too far from his pen. As for riding, Piper is very much still ridable- for children no heavier than thirty or so pounds. He likes children almost as much as food, but any animal, and sometimes even inanimate objects, should keep from going behind him. Even if Piper knows someone is going to walk behind him, he will kick out, almost as if just to be a pest. But it seems to be more of a habit, for he kicks anything that happens to end up behind him, even fences or a bush. The pony has also been trained to pull a cart, and he can pull quite a bit of weight without hurting himself, though it's been quite a while since he's been hooked up to a cart.
History: So long ago, the teeny red roan foal was born at a Shetland breeder's stable. For the first couple of years of Piper's life, he was treated like a prince. Until, when he got to be almost three years and still had a kicking problem. The stable owner found this horrible, and after several nasty bruises, finally decided to send the pony away. Though, the human didn't choose the best way to sell the pony. Piper was sent to an auction, stuffed into dirty, small pens with many larger horses. But, luckily, a little girl just happened to see the Shetland squished between a fat Quarter Horse and a spooky Thoroughbred, and that's when Piper's luck took another big turn. The little girl found Piper amazing, she loved his deep, red coat, and she braided his thick mane every night before she had to go in for supper. The girl's parents bought her a big, red ribbon to tie around Piper's tail so everyone knew to stay clear of his hindquarters; though they had to replace it every morning, for the pony would rub it off overnight. Thirteen years Piper spent with that pleasant family and the loving little girl. But the little girl quickly grew up, and when she turned eighteen, she had to leave off to college. With tears in her eyes, she gave Piper away to the neighbors, who had seven kids. But, the pony remained happy, for the neighbors were a happy couple, and the seven monkey-like children adored Piper, playing with him all day- which helped a lot to work off all the fat he gained by all the sweets the kids fed him. Piper only lived with this family for a year, until they realized how much money a pony could cost. Now they are looking for a new home for the old pony.
(Kind of an eventful history, but it's all I could think up. )
